Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy covers HiFi Klubben’s processing of personal data about our customers. We collect personal data for several different purposes, including purchases, repairs and advice, as well as for sending marketing.

HiFi Klubben only processes ordinary personal data, and to a large extent, you can control what we collect and what we use your personal data for. In most cases, you can therefore have your data deleted.

However, in several cases, we are required to store certain personal data because the law requires us to do so. This applies, for example, in order to comply with the Danish Bookkeeping Act.

Personal data is typically used to send you the products you have ordered, communicate with you by phone, SMS and email, including sending you our newsletter if you have subscribed to it. We also use the information to show advertisements on other websites and on social media, if we have obtained your consent.

Some of the third parties, such as social media platforms, with whom we share information, use the information for their own purposes outside our control. In these cases, we refer to the privacy policies of the relevant third parties.

2. The purposes and legal basis for the processing of your personal data

We process your personal data for the following purposes:

• Purchases in store
• Purchases in the webshop
• Advice on sound solutions
• Booking a demonstration
• Repairs
• Complaints
• Customer service in the form of calls, chats, messages and emails concerning products
• Customer club
• Newsletter
• Participation in competitions
• Marketing on social media based on your interests
• Marketing of products on our website

The legal basis for our processing of your personal data:

• Purchases in store, purchases in the webshop, advice on sound solutions, booking a demonstration, repairs, complaints, customer service in the form of calls, chats, messages and emails concerning products:
  • Processing is necessary in order to enter into or fulfil a contract, cf. Article 6(1)(b) of the General Data Protection Regulation.
• Customer club, newsletter, participation in competitions, targeted marketing on social media and marketing of products on our website:
  • We process your personal data on the basis of your consent. Article 6(1)(a) of the General Data Protection Regulation, Section 10(1) of the Danish Marketing Practices Act and Section 3(1) of the Danish Cookie Order all require us to obtain your consent.

Third parties, such as social media platforms, may use the personal data for their own purposes. We refer to the individual third party’s privacy policy, where you can see what they use the personal data for.

Finally, we process personal data about you to the relevant extent if you request to exercise one or more of your rights. In this case, we are obliged to process your personal data in accordance with the rules on data subject rights in Articles 12–22.

3. Categories of personal data and where we collect it from

We only process ordinary personal data about you. We typically collect personal data from sales, the webshop, the customer club and website, as well as from social media and when you communicate with us.

4. Recipients or categories of recipients

We disclose or transfer your personal data to the following recipients if it is relevant for the purpose for which the personal data may be used:

• HiFi Klubben and group-affiliated parent, subsidiary and sister companies
• HiFi Klubben franchise stores affiliated with the group
• Websites where we display our advertisements
• Social media, including Facebook, YouTube and Instagram
• Data processors, such as IT suppliers

5. Transfers to recipients in third countries, including international organisations

We transfer personal data to third countries outside the EU. We either transfer data to third countries where the European Commission has made an adequacy decision, or to unsafe third countries using the European Commission’s approved Standard Contractual Clauses for data protection. This ensures that transfers are always subject to the necessary or appropriate safeguards, so that your rights as a data subject are protected. You can obtain a copy of these by contacting us.

6. Storage of your personal data

In general: Rules concerning product defects mean that, in order to be able to recall products where possible, we store purchase and contact information for 10 years from the time of purchase.

The rules of the Danish Bookkeeping Act mean that we store purchase information concerning products and repairs for 5 years from the end of the financial year in which the purchase took place.

• Purchases in store:

• Purchases in the webshop:

• Advice on sound solutions:
  • We store information relating to advice for 3 years from the time the advice is completed, due to our potential liability.
• Booking a product demonstration:
  • We delete the information once we have completed the product demonstration, unless the customer wishes to continue the dialogue or make a purchase.
• Repairs:
  • See the section above regarding the rules of the Danish Bookkeeping Act.
• Complaints:
  • See the section above regarding the rules of the Danish Bookkeeping Act.
• Customer service in the form of calls, chats, messages and emails concerning products:
  • We store your personal data depending on what the communication concerns. See the other storage rules.
• Customer club:
  • We store your information until you delete your profile via your login.
• Newsletter:
  • We store your information until you unsubscribe from the newsletter.
• Participation in competitions and consent for competitions:
  • We store your personal data until you withdraw your consent.

In all cases, however, we store technical documentation of your consent for as long as we use the consent and until 5 years after it was last used. This is because any criminal liability under data protection rules becomes time-barred after 5 years.

7. Automated decisions, including profiling

When we market on social media, profiling of you takes place. You may therefore experience seeing more advertisements for our products on social media after you have visited our website and potentially accepted cookies and/or consented to marketing.

When you call us, and we have obtained your consent to record the call, we automatically analyse what you say and how you say it, so we can gain a better understanding of our customers’ needs. For example, we register whether you have challenges with payment, login or delivery. We also register whether our employees help you properly and in the right way, so we can become better at receiving calls from our customers and helping them.

8. Are you required to provide personal data?

No, you are not. However, in certain cases, such as when making a purchase in our webshop, we need to collect contact information so that you can receive the products you have ordered.

9. The right to withdraw consent

You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. This can be done, among other ways, as follows:

• Customer club: You can delete your profile when you are logged in
• Newsletter: You can unsubscribe directly in each individual newsletter
• Marketing on social media based on your interests: You can avoid this by deleting your profile in our customer club
• Targeted marketing of products on our website: You can avoid this by deleting your profile in our customer club

10. Your rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation, you have a number of rights in relation to our processing of information about you.

Please note, however, that in some cases we are joint data controllers with the third parties who also collect personal data through cookies on the website, or with the recipients with whom we share personal data. In such cases, we may forward your request to the relevant party if it is relevant in order to respond to your request.

Right of access

You have the right to access the information we process about you, as well as a number of additional details.

Right to rectification

You have the right to have incorrect information about yourself corrected.

Right to be forgotten, deletion

You have the right to deletion. In many cases, you can delete your personal data by withdrawing your consent. See above under the right to withdraw consent and under storage of your personal data.

Right to restriction of processing

In certain cases, you have the right to have the processing of your personal data restricted. If you have the right to restriction of processing, we may in future only process the data, apart from storage, with your consent, or for the purpose of establishing, exercising or defending legal claims, or protecting a person or important public interests.

Right to object

In certain cases, you have the right to object to our lawful processing of your personal data. You can also object to the processing of your data for direct marketing purposes.

Right to data portability

In certain cases, you have the right to receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format, and to have this personal data transferred from one data controller to another without hindrance.

11. Complaint to the Danish Data Protection Agency

You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Danish Data Protection Agency if you are dissatisfied with the way we process your personal data.
